Why this matters
- Longer passwords are much harder for a computer to guess than complicated short ones.
- Mixing letters, numbers and symbols multiplies the number of guesses an attacker needs to try.
- Common passwords (like “password” or “123456”) are tried first by attackers — avoid them completely.
- A random string of unrelated words (like “correcthorsebatterystaple”) can be both strong and easy for you to remember.
